Gorgeous, effortless shiny locks, cascading down my shoulders- a glowing halo around my face. Pure magic. The feeling indescribable- I was a NEW woman. A confident woman. A woman who was absolutely in love with her hair. And so it began. I knew from that moment on that I needed every single girl and woman to share in this exact same feeling as me. I remember thinking to myself. “Every woman should feel like this”. As someone who has struggled with thin, dry and brittle hair most of my life, I know the insecure feelings that come with it all too well. The constant frustration when styling it, the constant battle and worry surrounding your hair. “Does it look ok?” “will people notice”? Many of us know the struggle all too well. When I started my brand, I wasn’t sure how I was going to make it happen. I had a 4-month-old baby, was in school part time working on my degree, going through a hard time on a personal level and was ultimately stressed out and overwhelmed to say the very least! The want to change the way women viewed themselves is what ultimately pushed me to push forward, succeed and to create House of Hair- a safe place that caters to ALL hair types. I remember rocking my baby in my arms and thinking to myself “how the hell am I going to pull this off” Yet every single time a client sat in my chair (which was located beside the crib in my daughter’s room at the time) and saw her transformation after I was finished, the reaction that followed reminded me of why I couldn’t quit. To have the ability to make someone feel beautiful, to have somebody come in feeling unconfident in their hair and leave exuding confidence and radiating self-love.
